A new neonatal intensive care unit at Brenner Children’s Hospital

The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Brenner Children’s Hospital is one of the largest and most comprehensive intensive care nurseries in the state. In this highly specialized environment, an expertly trained team cares for critically ill infants and newborn babies from an expansive geographic region. This team includes neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, nurses and respiratory therapists, all of whom are specially trained to provide critical care for babies. Our patients have access to every single pediatric subspecialty and pediatric surgical specialty available at Brenner Children’s, from pediatric cardiology to pediatric gastroenterology to pediatric nephrology and more. Also, every procedure can be done in the NICU, eliminating the need to move patients.

Families with critically ill newborns are under great stress and need support. Although our current facility is state-of-the-art, physical space designs for NICUs have changed over the past several years. Your support will enable us to update our space to provide more family-friendly areas that are less intimidating. We want to provide a nurturing environment that produces the best outcomes for these tiny infants during such a critical time of their development.
